This cue scores one of Donnie’s biggest moments: his training sequence. It’s a turning point—a stretch of film where we start to understand the caliber of the man he’s becoming. When we talk about someone’s caliber, we’re talking about their character. What they’re made of.

In this scene, Donnie is in the thick of his transformation. And I wanted the music to evolve alongside him—starting with restraint, then growing in strength and complexity as he pushes through.

Huge shoutout to the brilliant Samuel Da Silva, who brought such depth to this with his flute and clarinet work. His performance helped carry the emotional weight of that journey—fragile one moment, fierce the next.

This is one of those cues that reminds me why I love telling stories through music.
